Rolls-Royce has a long and distinguished history in India since 1932. We continue to expand our presence strategically, through collaborations with companies like Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL),TCS, QuEST and L&T.
With India’s focus on strong economic and infrastructure growth, Rolls-Royce is well positioned with its broad range of products and services to meet the needs of our customers and achieve long-term growth for the Group.
Today, Rolls-Royce India plays a key role in global operations, from licensed production and engineering services to component manufacturing. India is also becoming an important source of supply chain activity for the Group.
Most recently, we announced the construction of a facility in Bangalore, to manufacture shrouds and cones, for the Trent family of engines.
Rolls-Royce has more than 1,350 engines in service in India across all its businesses, serving critical growth sectors of the Indian economy. We have about 200 employees in India and more than 700 engineers work in Rolls-Royce managed Engineering-Service Centres in Bangalore and Navi Mumbai.
The Rolls-Royce Regional Office is located in Delhi and we have a Marine Repair and Overhaul Facility in Navi Mumbai. We also operate business-sector support offices in Bangalore, Bidar, Goa and Kochi.
Civil Aerospace
- Trent 700 powers the Airbus A330 aircraft for India's largest private airline, Jet Airways.
- Blue Dart operates cargo services on B757 aircraft powered by RB211 engines.
- More than 120 V2500 powered Airbus A320 family aircraft are operated by Air India, IndiGo and Kingfisher.
Defence Aerospace
- Key strategic partner with India’s Armed Forces since 1933.
- Since 1981, Jaguar, the IAF ‘s strike fighter, has been powered by Adour engines.
- Hawk Advanced Jet Trainer (AJT) powered by Adour Mk871 are currently used for training the next-generation of Indian pilots.
- Since 2005, AE 3007 engines power Embraer Legacy Jets for VVIPs and surveillance duties.
- C 130J Hercules transport aircraft powered by AE 2100 engines entered Indian Air Force fleet in February 2011.
Marine
- More than 53 UT designed vessels are in service, and another 18 vessels of UT design are currently under construction at various shipyards.
- A wide range of Rolls–Royce equipment is installed in over 345 vessels.
- In 2008, a Marine Repair & Overhaul facility was opened in Navi Mumbai.
- Switchboard manufacturing and Application Engineering activities commenced in 2009 and 2010 respectively.
- There are 3 Syncrolift sites in India.
- An order for supply of 60 water-jets to Indian Coast Guard has been won recently, from Cochin Shipyard.
Energy
- More than 110 gas turbines are in operation in Indian onshore and offshore applications.
- More than 250 reciprocating engines operate in India.
- RB211 engines power India’s major gas pipelines with Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL).
- We have sold over 80 Bergen engines in Bangladesh for power generation.
